Sunday Cinema Series Returns to Knife at The Highland Dallas With a Wes Anderson WesFest
DALLAS (March 8, 2016)
The wildly successful Sunday Cinema Series returns to Knife at The Highland Dallas for its second season on Sunday, March 20 at 7:15 p.m. Kicking off the new series of special screenings on the restaurant’s outdoor patio will be Wes Anderson’s “BOTTLE ROCKET.”
This year’s programming will focus on the films of Chef Tesar’s favorite director and Texas’ own, Wes Anderson. Tickets are priced at $35 per person, inclusive of gratuity, with $10 of each ticket sold benefitting the Dallas Film Society in support of their efforts to champion the art of film and to raise the bar for film, filmmakers and film education to the Dallas area. The 1996 movie “BOTTLE ROCKET” was filmed entirely in Dallas/Fort Worth and Hillsboro, and was not only Anderson’s first feature film, but also the debut for brothers Luke, Owen, and Andrew Wilson. While the film did not achieve commercial fame, it was critically praised (Martin Scorsese called it one of his favorite films of the 90s) and launched three successful careers. It is the only Anderson film to date in which Bill Murray has not appeared.
Tesar, Knife chef partner, and Lee Papert, president and C.E.O. of the Dallas Film Society and executive director of the Dallas International Film Festival, will speak prior to the film about Anderson’s impact on the film community. With the purchase of each ticket, guests will enjoy themed gourmet bites by Chef Tesar and craft beer from Four Corners Brewing Company. “I just love the look and style of Wes’ films; no matter what the subject is, when you’re watching one, you know it’s a Wes Anderson film,” says Chef Tesar. “He’s similar to a chef in that way. I can relate to that.”
